Hello, lovely human! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I’m Mini Mabel, a light grey chihuahua with a heart bigger than my 1.9kg frame and a story that’s beautifully imperfect.
My Beginning
I was born on the 14th of July 2024 in Liskeard, Cornwall, where the hills roll green and the air smells of the sea. For the first few months of my life, I was just another tiny chihuahua pup, destined (or so everyone thought) to grow a luxurious long coat. But life had other plans for me.
On the 14th of October 2024, I found my forever home, and oh, what a home it is! I was supposed to be fluffy and fabulous, but my fur had other ideas. Instead of growing long and luscious, it started falling out in patches. That’s when I was diagnosed with alopecia X, a condition that leaves me with less fur than most chihuahuas expect. But you know what? I’ve learned that being different is what makes me special.
Living with Alopecia X
Yes, I’m a nearly naked chihuahua, and I’m not ashamed of it. I’m receiving ongoing treatment to support my skin health and encourage fur regrowth, and while I may not have the coat I was “supposed” to have, I’ve got style, personality, and a whole lot of confidence. Who needs a full fur coat when you’ve got charm?
My skin needs extra care and attention, which means I’ve become something of a skincare enthusiast. Moisturizers, gentle treatments, cosy jumpers, I know what works and what doesn’t, and I’m happy to share my tips with other pups (and their humans) who might be navigating similar challenges.
My Life in Cornwall
Cornwall isn’t just where I was born: it’s where I thrive. From windswept beaches to cosy cafés that welcome dogs like me with open arms, this place is pure magic. Every week, I attend obedience training, which I absolutely love. There’s something wonderful about learning new things, earning treats, and making my humans proud. Plus, it’s given me confidence and helped me become the best version of my tiny self.
Pawing It Forward
One of the things I’m most proud of is the work I do alongside my tiny human, Arnaud, who’s eight years old. Together, we’ve taken on some big challenges to raise money for causes close to our hearts.
In April 2025, I walked 60 miles and raised £495 for Cancer Research UK. Can you imagine? These little legs, covering 60 miles! Then in October 2025, I walked 70 miles and raised £330 for Children’s Hospice South West. Every step was worth it, knowing we were making a difference. You can read more about our fundraising adventures on my “Paw It Forward” page.

Let’s Be Friends
Whether you’ve stumbled across my blog because you love chihuahuas, you’re navigating a similar challenge with your own pup, or you’re just here for the Cornish scenery and cosy vibes, I’m so glad you’re here.
Life has taught me that perfection is overrated. What matters is love, resilience, and the courage to walk your own path( even if that path involves 70 miles on four tiny legs).
So settle in, grab a cuppa (or a treat, if you’re a pup like me), and let’s share this journey together.
With love and tiny woofs,
Mini Mabel 🐾
