Grey Whiskers: My First Proper Mystery (And Why You Should Read About It)
Written by Mini Mabel, Chihuahua Detective Extraordinaire

Listen. I know what you’re thinking. “A chihuahua detective? Really? Isn’t she a bit… small for that sort of work?”
To which I respond: Size is about perspective. I’m not small. The world is just unnecessarily large.
And besides, I’ve just solved my first major case, thank you very much. It involved conspiracy, fraud, stolen inheritances, a dramatic cliff-side chase, and more than one dog who severely underestimated what two kilograms of fury and intellect could accomplish.
About Grey Whiskers
My debut mystery, Grey Whiskers, takes place right here in Cornwall, where the sea meets the cliffs and secrets hide in apple orchards. When a frightened collie named Roxy loses her inheritance to a gang of criminals led by the menacing Grey Whiskers, she needs help. Real help. Not the sort that involves charging in with teeth bared (though that has its place), but the sort that requires actual thinking.
Enter me. Obviously.
What follows is a tale of friendship, courage, and proving that kindness isn’t weakness, it’s strategy. With the help of a loyal border collie, a reformed spaniel, a philosophically-inclined cat, and a fox terrier who talks too much (but means well), I expose a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of village society.
There’s danger. There’s intrigue. There’s a party infiltration that would make any self-respecting detective proud. And yes, there may be cheese-related motivation at several key moments.
What Readers Are Saying
Don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what actual humans have said:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Fabulous book, well written, loved it ❤️”
“This is a fantastic book, love the characters, especially the Chihuahua detective! Very well written, could see this being a great TV show or Disney film! Very impressed ❤️”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Mini Chihuahua. Mega Heart. Massively Fun Book for Middle-School Readers and above”
“Loved it. A heartwarming read about friends, old & new, who band together to prevent a miscarriage of justice. A book that celebrates intellect and kindness, over brawn and status, told with humour and cheekiness. Perfect for readers 9+ years old… One of my favourite exchanges from the book: ‘I don’t need someone dramatic. I need someone who can fight.’ ‘You need someone who can think… Trust me, size doesn’t matter when you’ve got a brain like hers.’”

A TV show or Disney film? Well, I wouldn’t say no. I photograph exceptionally well.

About the Author (As Written By Humans, Not Me)
K.R. Gregory writes the Mini Mabel Mysteries series, inspired by a real-life sassy chihuahua who may or may not be dictating these very words. When not solving fictional crimes, the real Mini Mabel can be found taking Cornwall by storm, one dramatic pose at a time. She suffers from alopecia, which gives her that distinctive ridiculous mane of fluff, but she wears it like a crown. Because she’s a professional.
So there you have it. My first mystery, properly documented, ready for you to enjoy. Will you help me prove that the smallest detective can solve the biggest crimes?
And remember: It’s not the size of the dog in the fight. It’s the size of the brain in the dog.
Though having excellent cheekbones doesn’t hurt either.
